StandardVision Artist Showcase: A Convergence of Vivid Surreality and Real-World Abstraction with Digital Sculptor Planttdaddii

StandardVision has curated a site-specific artist showcase from digital sculptor and animator Planttdaddii on view across a number of StandardVision’s large-scale exterior displays throughout Los Angeles through February 29th.

A digital artist from Seattle, WA, Planttdaddii (aka Sam Clover) draws almost all of her inspiration from an intense fascination with the natural world, and the dream to one day feel more connected with it again. Her work is influenced by evolutionary biology, taxonomy, and psychology, as well as humanity’s tendency toward apathy regarding all things non-human. Driven by the belief that we can learn so much from humans that have not yet had their minds flooded with brands or our very ridged societal structures, Planttdaddii expresses emotion, behaviors, and stories through artwork that is typically devoid of human presence.

Although her work is surreal and sometimes abstract, Planttdaddii draws all of her inspiration from the ubiquitous abstractions and surreal patterns present in our natural world. Her pieces culminate in an energetic blend of flora, fauna, and her own whimsical, non-human characters.

Currently living in Brooklyn, NY, Planttdaddii raised thousands of dollars for various wildlife organizations and habitat restoration projects through her art in 2023. Her recent clients include: Samsung, Meta, Fox, Nike, Starry, and various musicians.

Catch works from Sam Clover (aka Planttdaddii) on view at 3rd Street Crossing, 888 N Vermont, and Kurve LA, through February 29th, and learn more about the artist on her Instagram.
