StandardVision Artist Showcase: Exploring the Vivid and Abstract Depth of the Natural World with Anthony Z. Padilla
StandardVision continues its curated site-specific art program on the large-scale curved exterior display at 3rd Street Crossing with a month-long showcase of work from visual artist Anthony Z. Padilla on view January 1st through 31st.
An Indigenous oil painter based in Brooklyn, NY, Anthony Z. Padilla explores the complexity and chaotic elements found in nature. Inspired by Georgia O’Keefe, Henri Rousseau and Wassily Kandinsky, Padilla’s work depicts minimalistic and overwhelming close-ups in the kingdom of nature where flora and fauna are sovereigns.
Often focused on the dense luscious scenery found in the tropical jungles of our planet, Padilla evokes a sense of depth and distance within his work in order “to highlight the abstract and surreal qualities of our natural world.” His paintings are forbidden invitations to enter the glorious, yet hazardous, realm of nature in which humanity does not seem to belong. As he paints these peculiar densities, Padilla realizes and emphasizes patterns beyond beauty which lead the viewer to a transcendent moment.
Anthony Z. Padilla is an oil painter and muralist born in Dallas, Texas. Now is based in Brooklyn, NY, Padilla is a self-taught artist who built his reputation through a meritocratic approach. In his recent work, he explores the complexity and chaos of nature.
