StandardVision Artist Showcase: Abstract Collage and Portraiture from Artist Lola Dupre

In collaboration with Vellum LA, StandardVision has curated a site-specific artist showcase of selected works from collage artist and illustrator Lola Dupre on view across a number of StandardVision’s large-scale exterior displays throughout Los Angeles through January 31st.

A distinctive practice of slicing and rearranging photographs, art historical works, and illustrations into cleverly surreal collages, Dupre’s portfolio references the Dada movement of the early 20th Century and the digital manipulations of the present day. By altering these original images, she splices them into pieces before building them up again into new, surreal collages. Dupre’s manual manipulations manifest as whimsical and abstract works which slightly distort reality and produce geometric, optical illusions.

Lola Dupre is a collage artist and illustrator currently based near Glasgow, Scotland. Over the past decade, her projects have included cover art with TIME Magazine and Penguin Classics, and assignments with Nike Basketball, The Atlantic Magazine and The New York Times. Dupre’s work is inspired by visual communication and exploration, animal portraiture, fashion, technology and everything beautiful.

Catch these works by Lola Dupre on view at Melrose & Spaulding, Kurve LA, 3rd Street Crossing, and 888 N Vermont, through January 31st, and learn more about the artist on her website.
