StandardVision's latest artist spotlight features photographs from “A New America," a powerful series from documentary photographer Robert LeBlanc. Shot over a length of five years, 47 states and 50,000 miles, this body of work highlights modest rural towns and truck stops, to major metropolitan cities, "A New America" is a true visual love letter to the United States in its present age, focusing on race, poverty, politics, tech, sex, blue-collar workers, underground cultures and everything in between.

LeBlanc’s completely immersed himself and observed unique parts and situations all over America. The artist's goal through the series is to tell the emotional rhythms of the United States; to portray underlying realities and misgivings, how it feels to be wealthy, poor, in love, to be alone, to be young or old, to live along a country road or to walk a crowded sidewalk, to be overworked or sleeping in parks. This is America in the 21st century through LeBlanc’s lens.

Robert LeBlanc is an art and documentary photographer. His work is marked by uncommon intensity and immediacy, the product of a career spent documenting subcultures, rappers and the raw corners of the world from a position of extreme closeness.

His projects are often the result of years worth of trust-building, and he has built a practice of finding and gaining intimate access to undiscovered and revelatory slices of life that speak with great power to a world in upheaval. He has documented hotshot firefighters, hurricane survivors, Pentecostal snake handlers, and the American sideshow scene .
