By synchronizing camera and subject, Vertical aims to distill complex motion. As we recalibrate the relationship between movement and environment, ordinary people become a constant at the center of a spinning world.  Nelson De Castro is an LA based director, born and raised in Boston.  Upon graduating from USC, his first music video was featured at the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase, and nominated for a UK Music Video Award.  His style is meticulous, decidedly practical and often experimental.  Driven by the notion that each unique idea stems from a unique process, Nelson believes an unexpected approach can lead to unexpected, beautiful results. https://vimeo.com/206330225SV Showcase: A selection of animated video art curated by the visual podcast app, Specta. Some of her clients include Microsoft, Macy’s, Bloomberg, Western Digital, and Lazy Oaf to name a few.Randy Cano is a Los Angeles based 3D designer, animator, and artist who creates hypnotizing, gravity-defying, perception-challenging videos that see people and objects shift, shatter, melt and dissolve in unexpected yet unsettlingly satisfying ways. His work has been featured in The Creator’s Project, Hypebeast, Designboom and more.99centbrains is a self taught iOS Developer/Entrepreneur with a background in Production art and Design. He studied Web Design and Interactive Media at the Art Institute of CA-San Francisco. Shortly after he worked at Zynga as a Lead UI Artist and Concept Designer. 99centbrains started developing iOS applications in 2011 and started a small indie development shop in 2012. Since then he has overseen Art Direction, Creative Experience Design, Development, and Project management.Ego is an audio-visual DJ and video artist with a knack for high intensity, cut and paste, multi-media collages. He has exhibited work at Sydney’s Vivid Festival and has made music videos for labels such as Modular, Sweat it Out, and Future Classic as well as received commissions for brands such as Red Bull, Fuzzy and Nissan.Artist Takeover: Rinzi Ruiz (on view through 3/12)Los Angeles based photographer and master of capturing light, Rinzi Ruiz, takes over the Marriott screen for two weeks with excerpts from his black and white street photography series, capturing unusual corners of LA’s urban landscape. The SV Artist Takeover invites a different artist every two weeks to take over a recurring 15-second spot, showcasing their work to the public. You can read an interview with Ruiz about his work here.Day in the Life: Ryan Schude - Making of “O Russet Witch” (on view through 4/2)StandardVision’s Day in the Life series continues with the making of award winning photographer Ryan Schude’s “tableau vivant” titled “O Russet Witch,” created as a live event inside the famous and historic The Last Bookstore in downtown Los Angeles.Ryan Schude is a Los Angeles based, advertising, fine art, and editorial photographer. His Tableaux Vivants photo series is a brilliant combination of eye candy and substance—these intricate, deftly crafted images are typically composites of many photographs and layers, but each seems to capture one evocative instant.The screenings can be seen and enjoyed from multiple angles anywhere within a three block radius of 901 W. Olympic Blvd. in downtown Los Angeles, and the full program could be leisurely experienced with food or drinks at the Yard House across the street. RSVP HERE.
