The old and the new collide to create cutting edge interpretations of our world and what it means to live in modern life where technology is so much a part of our everyday routine. Their collaborative piece, “Floral Enlightenment” takes us into a world where nature is no longer organic and technology is the answer to life.The combination of Abbott’s vividly technicolor palettes accented by delicate patterns and Morgan’s explicitly digital pastel gradients perfectly juxtapose our natural and unnatural worlds to softly delve into our unconscious. The piece ultimately reminds us that this imagined world that they have created is uncannily real.Teachesofpeaches (Christie Morgan) is a designer, art director, curator, and founder of Australian publication PITCH, a magazine that seeks to blur the distinctions between fashion, art, and design. She maintains a freelance graphic design business in addition to numerous personal projects, drawing inspiration from the real world through textures and typefaces.Chrissie Abbott is a London-based artist, designer, and art director whose mixed media approach to her work creates tangible alternate realities. Using vivid technicolor palettes combined with patterns and found images, Abbott’s aesthetic is delicate, exploring dreams of nature and exploring internal theories of the apocalypse.  You can see their piece on the SVLA1 screen in downtown Los Angeles at 901 W Olympic Blvd. every Thursday – Sunday from 9pm-Midnight through July 2.
