StandardVision x Month of Photography Los Angeles
This month, StandardVision has partnered with Month of Photography Los Angeles for the third year in a row to present the work of both local and global photographers to screens around Los Angeles. Featuring a curated collection of themed work, Month of Photography Los Angeles aims to expose the public to the diversity of contemporary photography. These exhibitions are curated from submissions to MOPLA’s annual Open Call.
StandardVision’s showcase program aims to present the work of emerging and established artists in site-specific month long exhibitions turned installations on the #SVLA1 screen on the Courtyard Marriott Hotel at LA Live and the video wall in the Tom Bradley Wing of the Los Angeles Central Library.
The program will be on view for the entire month of April with photographic exhibitions throughout every hour.

April 1 - 30 | Every 15 minutesT
The video wall at the Los Angeles Central Library will feature photography focused on global environments and landscapes at a time when a call for drastic action is needed to conserve the environment. These landscapes, both abstract and direct, all portray a sense of desolation. In many cases this bleakness is presented via that of a barren desert landscape or isolated ruins of human structure as if the conditions can no longer sustain life. In Dirk Kruell’s “Plastic Army” series we see landscapes invaded by a flood of colorful single use plastics and in Chiara Zonca’s “Magma / it Devours” we are confronted with abstract, mars-like desert scenes in which rocks, earth, and even the water take on otherworldly and eery tones. This collection of imagery aims to confront its audience with the changing climate and how our actions and choices can play a part in its future.

April 1 - 28 | At the top of every hour
The curation on the SVLA1 screen on the Courtyard Mariott at LA Live presents a look into unique and diverse communities and cultures from across the globe. Taking us from rural farm life in the Romanian countryside, to a breakdancing crew in Zanzibar, and inside the homes and relationships of mothers and daughters in Iran, the artists in this group each seek to share what makes this particular community or culture unique and why their story is important. When looking at the work in this globally and visually diverse group of artists and subjects, one concept is consistent - we are all human.
