StandardVision Artist Showcase: A Dialogue Between Organic and Synthetic from Visual Artist Kushagra Gupta
StandardVision continues its curated site-specific art program on the large-scale curved exterior display at 3rd Street Crossing with a month-long showcase of work from visual artist Kushagra Gupta on view February 1st through 29th.
A Kolkata, India-born graphic designer and visual artist, Kushagra Gupta’s creative process grew out of an inclination toward nature and fantasy which he developed from a very early age. Gupta’s youthful obsession with video games nurtured his love of digital art. His palpable and vivid works are a fascinating blend of natural textures and colors coupled with otherworldly elements in order to create a conversation between the two. He expresses his imaginations through digital mediums, and finds motivation in the endless possibility and chaos that comes with it.
While Gupta’s work finds its foundation in nature, the work tends to be derived from the more surreal—the weird and abstract—as he draws elements inspired by the natural world, mythology and fantastical art. Gupta’s goal with his artwork is to transport people to an inexplicable, but stimulating and pleasurable state of mind in order to produce an aesthetic experience that is similar to looking at a flower or the clouds.
