StandardVision Artist Showcase: Dissolving Artificial Boundaries with Futurist Kira Xonorika

In collaboration with Vellum LA, StandardVision has curated a site-specific artist showcase from groundbreaking artist and futurist Kira Xonorika, on view across a number of StandardVision’s large-scale exterior displays throughout Los Angeles through December 31st.

An artist, writer, and futurist, Kira Xonorika is also known as an optimist worldbuilder whose work operates at the intersections of technology, culture, and identity. Focused on using AI as a collaborative medium. Xonorika delves into complex themes relating to ancestry, indigenous worldviews and a critique of artificial boundaries such as those between male and female, utopia and dystopia, and human versus machine—that have historically reinforced Western colonial power systems.

By challenging our preconceptions around identity, Xonorika prompts us to reconsider these categories as fluid rather than fixed, echoing nature's own disdain for rigid classifications. Their work is informed by political science, art history, and media history, and explores the impact of Western colonization and its erasure of a multitude of practices, languages, and pluriverses. By collaborating with AI, Xonorika infuses their work with a playful curiosity and childlike wonder, building vibrant worlds that feel like a utopian vision of an egalitarian future.

Catch works from Kira Xonorika on view at Melrose & Spaulding, 3rd Street Crossing, 888 N Vermont, and Kurve LA, through December 31st, and learn more about Xonorika on their Instagram.
