StandardVision and Fuser Studio Announce a New Public Art Program with FREQUENCIES by Nancy Baker Cahill

Fuser Studio and StandardVision have teamed up to bring a new wave of digital and new media artwork into public space in Los Angeles. As the inaugural presentation of this partnership, StandardVision and Fuser are pleased to present Frequencies, a new work by transdisciplinary artist Nancy Baker Cahill, on StandardVision’s large-scale digital canvas at the Courtyard Marriott LA Live in DTLA.

Fuser Studio is a creative workspace where artists can build games, films, animation, and more, providing a space to experiment with new tools and expand existing creative practices. Through this partnership, Fuser's digital creative ecosystem meets StandardVision's longstanding commitment to placemaking through art: using large-scale digital displays to connect artists, architecture, and the public while creating unexpected moments of creative encounter throughout the city.

Frequencies, a new series of analog drawings and generative videos, explores cognition and perception through biomorphic forms inspired by sound waves, EKGs, mountains, and the sensory structures of spider webs. For this work, Baker Cahill used Fuser to experiment with a photograph of a spider web she discovered outdoors, exploring different ways of animating and transforming the image before selecting a still from the process and integrating it into the final piece. The process allowed her to extend an existing physical observation into a new digital form, creating a work that moves between the analog and digital worlds.

Nancy Baker Cahill is a transdisciplinary artist whose work explores systemic power, ecological interdependence, and the networks that shape perception and embodied experience. Working across drawing, augmented reality, sculpture, sound, film, and participatory installation, her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, LACMA, the Hammer Museum, Desert X, and Times Square Arts. She is also the Founder and Artistic Director of 4th Wall, a free augmented reality public art platform.
