The Hammer Museum

Los Angeles, CA

A Digitally-Driven Beacon for an Iconic Cultural Institution

StandardVision was recently engaged to design two expansive interior and exterior LED facades at the famed Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, CA, as part of the institution’s highly-anticipated transformation. The building’s transparent lobby—activated by these unique digital facades—serves as a welcoming beacon to the surrounding Westwood neighborhood, offering opportunities to greet new audiences and engage the local community.

Reaching New Audiences Through Public Digital Activations

Working closely with Michael Maltzan Architects, StandardVision skillfully coordinated the design of an innovative digital facade that complements the museum’s architectural corner feature. With a focus on maximizing visibility from Wilshire Blvd, this dynamic digital enhancement reimagines the museum's corner as a prominent branding landmark, inviting engagement from daily visitors and pedestrians.

Modernizing the Museum Experience

StandardVision also designed a floating lobby screen, situated opposite the museum's main entrance and welcome desk. This screen enhances the view from inside the building towards Wilshire Blvd, serving as a digital welcome and information hub for visitors. The integration of StandardVision’s proprietary content management system, SVRunner, simplifies content scheduling and monitoring, enabling seamless updates from museum exhibitions to community-wide messages.
