Delta LaGuardia Terminal C
New York, NY
An Experiential Counterpoint to Airline Travel
StandardVision recently collaborated with ESI Design, an NBBJ studio, and Dimensional Worldwide to bring a bespoke, data-driven digital art installation to Delta’s brand new LaGuardia Airport Terminal C.
Titled Departing Impressions, the lenticular digital mural welcomes passengers into the Departure Hall at Delta’s Terminal C inside New York’s LaGuardia Airport, and uses software-driven animations to remind passengers of the wonders of travel as they make their way through security and to their destinations.
Tech-Fused Art: Bridging Departure and Arrival
Drawing on live flight data, this digital art installation presents a tableau of Delta's North American destinations, updating in real-time with departing flights. As planes leave, a "Disruption" effect sweeps the canvas, turning the imagery into abstract art, symbolizing travel's enduring impact on memory.
High Definition LED Technology
StandardVision worked with ESI and Dimensional to deliver the hardware and software for the unique experiential installation. The 34 monolithic panels in the main hall feature custom 90° corner cabinets, seamlessly offering a pristine view from every angle. With a 2.5mm pitch, 1,200 nits brightness, and a 3840Hz refresh rate, the installation employs high-quality LED components, immersing viewers in a digital rendition of Delta’s destinations. Over 40 million controlled LEDs produce vivid, abstract representations of these locations.
An Abstract Digital Landscape Powered by SVRunner
StandardVision worked with ESI to implement its SVRunner content management system, ensuring seamless artwork transitions for the data-driven mural. The software enhances the installation by producing endless abstract visual combinations, smoothly introducing or removing regions on the digital canvas and effortlessly merging one destination into another.
